• A 695-bed facility, providing top quality health care to the
Chicago area for 48 years. Christ Medical Center opened in
1961, and Hope Children’s Hospital, a four-story, 69-bed
pediatric medical facility, opened in 1996

COMMUNITY COMMITMENT
• Put portable, 12-lead EKG monitors into ambulances in the
Chicago suburbs of Oak Lawn and Burbank and trained
paramedics in their use
• Opened 16-bedroom Ronald McDonald House in Oak Lawn for
parents, siblings and guardians of children being treated at
Hope Children’s Hospital
• Operates Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, which provides
affordable medical treatment to at-risk children in uninsured
and underinsured communities
• Created Care Pages at Hope Children’s Hospital, a service for
patients and families that allows families and friends to
communicate via private, personal web pages
• Created a Hope for Fitness Program to address childhood
obesity
• Collaborates with the Chicago-based outreach program,
CeaseFire, to help reduce the incidence of violence in the
community
• Support for the efforts of the Chicago area’s South Suburban
Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS) to address the health
needs of homeless individuals in the region
• POD hospital for coordination of disaster communication for
five-county area; involvement in bioterrorism and disaster
