Plans and executes pre-clinical large animal research in an NIH funded lab under the direct supervision of a senior cardiothoracic surgical investigator.  Oversees and/or performs all animal surgeries, husbandry, and care.  Prepares manuscripts for publication and abstracts and posters for presentation at scientific meetings.  Participates in and/or leads regular research quality management activities to ensure all pre-clinical research studies are done in compliance with federal, state, and local law, GCP, contracts, and institutional policies.

Requirements

MD or PhD holder with surgical experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Surgical experience a must and a working knowledge of research methodologies and biostatistics to aid in manuscript and presentation development.  Must have excellent communication and delegation skills to lead pre-clinical work according to all local and international guidelines.
