SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Penn State Health is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner to join the Hematology Oncology department and Penn State Cancer Institute. This individual will work in collaboration with other Physicians and APPs within the department in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. The APP will be required to work the inpatient hospitalist service caring for both solid tumor patients and bone marrow transplant service and will also assist in the outpatient Infusion Center and Acute Care Clinic. The APP will perform various procedures including bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, skin biopsies, stem cell transplant, and intrathecal chemotherapy. Prior hospitalist medicine experience is preferred but not required. APPs will get to enjoy a flexible work schedule with a very supportive team.

The NP is an expert in pathophysiology, physical assessment and diagnosis, pharmacology and exercises authority in health promotion and disease management. The NP functions as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and provides a wide range of patient services to a specific patient population across the continuum of health care. By utilizing the nursing process, scientific reasoning and critical problem solving, NPs practice within the scope of responsibilities and prescriptive authority defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and the Medical Staff Executive at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• Masters Degree in Nursing with clinical specialization required.
• Two (2) years' work experience as a RN required.
• Current licensed to practice as a CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• Acute Care trained Nurse Practitioner preferred.
